I was very honoured to be one of only three Australian artists chosen to be included in the Women’s International Biennial of Macau!
Jointly organised by the Macao Museum of Art (MAM), under the auspices of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, and Albergue SCM, the exhibition “Women Artists – 1st International Biennial of Macao” features 142 works from the 1970’s up to present created by 132 women artists from 23 countries and regions, including paintings, silkscreen printings, drawings, sculptures, installations and videos, among others. This exhibition aims to enhance the reputation of contemporary female artists and show the impact of their creative works on society and culture, as well as reveal the diverse roles of female identity, the multiple interpretations of women and artistic practices that transcend gender differences. The opening ceremony of the biennial will be held on Thursday, 8 March, at 6:30pm, on the 3rdfloor of the MAM and is open to the general public. Women artists from Mainland China, Macao, Hong Kong, Taiwan, South Korea, Japan, East Timor, Russia, India, Iran, Angola, Guinea-Bissau, Sao Tome and Principe, Cape Verde, Portugal, Spain, United Kingdom, Georgia, Brazil, United States and Australia, among other countries and regions, were invited to participate in this biennial, which also includes works by female artists from the MAM’s collection. These artists are from different generations, regions and cultural backgrounds, their personal feelings and creativity are different, and their works will show the public the unique female art world. The exhibition “Women Artists – 1st International Biennial of Macao” is open until 13 May 2018. The Macao Museum of Art, located at Avenida Xian Xing Hai, NAPE, is open daily from 10am to 7pm (no admission after 6:30pm), including on public holidays and closes on Mondays. Admission is free. Extremely honoured to receive the ‘Most Collectible Artist’ Award at Shenzhen City Art Fair! Thanks to the organisers and judges! And of course wonderful people of China for making me feel so welcome!
Shenzhen City Art Fair (SZCAF) is an international hotel art fair in the south China. It builds high-quality platform of art collection and art trade with advocating the idea to integrate art into every persons life. Asia Contemporary September 2017 was my 3rd show in Hong Kong. As always Hong Kong didn't disappoint me. I was selected as a featured artist. I am so honoured and grateful to the visitors who were so generous in giving me positive feedback (and of course acquiring my work). In March I had a sell-out show so have been very busy painting new artworks. September show didn’t disappoint as well with many sales and commissions lined up. I had such a wonderful time at the 2017 Beijing Art Expo. Thanks to the organising committee for honouring me with the VIP status. Thanks to all media - TV channels, newspapers, magazines, cultural organisations for the interviews.
Received my first international award!

A few months ago when I accepted the invitation from the show organisers. I didn't have the faintest idea that I'd be showered with so many opportunities. When I received the invite my first reaction was... it is too short notice to prepare for an art expo. But I always love accepting challenges... so I took the challenge upon myself. Luckily my career in web project management came in handy. And I got on with preparing for the show. I started with writing some goals for this exhibition. As I selected the Solo booth my main aim was to showcase my work and connect with a few galleries in New York. Although artwork sales was not the main objective (but I must admit it always boosts your spirit if there are sales). Preparing for the show was quite a joyful process as well. I love spending time in my studio and experimenting with different materials and techniques. I decided to focus on mixed media for the show. Although the logistics from Sydney to New York, paperwork and all other requirements to organise the show was less interesting, I believe it added to my experience and I learned a lot. It was a lovely experience to participate in the expo. I received so much wonderful feedback on my collection. It was awesome to be among so many talented artists! Four days surrounded by art... just amazing! |
